WHAT'S BATTERY LIFE LIKE? HOW ABOUT AT NIGHT? HOW ABOUT AFTER SNOWFALL?
Blind Pilot uses less power than streaming video; you could run the app for more than 6 hours without having to recharge. Low-light and snow/ice detection is something we're still figuring out.
WHEN'S IT COMING OUT? IOS OR ANDROID?
Update: A limited beta was released July 15, 2020 for iOS devices.
An Android version will be introduced in January/February of 2021.
WILL THIS APP WORK WITH GOOGLE MAPS? WHAT ELSE CAN IT DO?
The sky's the limit: oncoming car detection, full indoor/outdoor navigation, beacon/GPS compatibility, and object + text description are all in the works. With your help, Blind Pilot will become the universal platform for assistive technology.
DOES IT REALLY WORK BETTER THAN A WHITE CANE?
The answer is yes! It's range is double that of a white cane, the fine-tuned vibrations are far more intuitive, and using the app becomes second nature much faster than learning to use a white cane. Above-waist obstacle detection also comes standard.
